Andricaín brings together peninsular classics and newer American favorites in this newly available collection of poems, riddles, and rhymes. Ratón Pérez rubs elbows (or perhaps whiskers) with García Lorca and Lope de Vega in a volume that hints at the breadth and wealth of the poetic tradition in the Spanish-speaking world. The sweet pen outline and watercolor illustrations scattered throughout serve to provide a visual focus while allowing the words to feed readers’ imaginations. The end of the book offers brief bios of the authors included. A wonderful way to bring beautiful (and playful) classic voices to the next generation of poetry lovers, and a welcomed offering to children’s Spanish language literature. Recommended for school and public libraries, as well as bookstores.
