Ratón Pérez rubs elbows (or perhaps whiskers) with García Lorca and Lope de Vega in a volume that hints at the breadth and wealth of the poetic tradition in the Spanish-speaking world. The sweet pen outline and watercolor illustrations scattered throughout serve to provide a visual focus while allowing the words to feed readers’ imaginations. The end of the book offers brief bios of the authors included. A wonderful way to bring beautiful (and playful) classic voices to the next generation of poetry lovers, and a welcomed offering to children’s Spanish language literature. Recommended for school and public libraries, as well as bookstores.
