Let's Read Stories and Poems in the Classrooms

In this month of March 2022, the Fundación Cuatrogatos joins the activities of the Read Across America program, created in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) of the United States, by reading books in Spanish to children.

Let's Read Stories and Poems in the Classrooms will present four literary activities for different groups of students organized in coordination with the Mater East Center. On March 21 and 23, writers Sergio Andricaín, Omira Bellizio, Lismar Marcano, Cristina Rebull, and Antonio Orlando Rodríguez will read literary works—theirs and those of other authors—to children in kindergarten through third grade.

Read Across America aims to motivate students across the country to read books in which they can see themselves reflected and that allow them to discover communities and realities different from their own. A goal we share!

With this series of literary meetings, our Fundación Cuatrogatos once again collaborates with the Centro Mater, a non-profit organization that for more than five decades of experience has offered educational, cultural and health services to thousands of children, mostly from families low-income Latina immigrants.
