Come back, this year by streaming, Palabra Viva Weekend

Cuatrogatos Foundation announces the fourth edition of its annual Palabra Viva Weekend event, which will be offered by streaming on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time of the United States). The program has the support of ArtesMiami, the prestigious cultural organization chaired by Dr. Aida Levitan, and can be seen on Cuatrogatos' Facebook account and YouTube channel.

Since its launch in 2016, Palabra Viva Weekend has promoted literature and the arts in Spanish, exploring the relationship between literature and other artistic expressions, such as music, theater, dance and the visual arts. On this occasion, the event celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the creation of Cuatrogatos and, as usual, will feature two shows: one for children and the other for adults.

On Saturday, May 30, we will present for the children a fun and original combination of supernatural monsters, rock, lullabies and traditional games from Latin America, poetry, dance and digital animation with the title Una noche de fantasmas y otros divertimentos (A Night of Ghosts and Other Amusements). This "homemade" production will count with the participation of two outstanding figures of music and arts for children in Colombia: Paula Ríos, singer and director of the rock group for children Tú Rockcito, and María del Sol Peralta, singer, author, and director of the Cantaclaro musical group.

In this children's show, the musicians Daniel Cadena and Felipe Aljure, as well as the dancer Lina Vanegas also participate. Poems taken from books by Antonio Orlando Rodríguez and Sergio Andricaín will also be read.

On Sunday, May 31, Palabra Viva Weekend will offer the adult audience La eternidad por fin comienza un lunes (Eternity Finally Begins on Monday), a reading with poems and narrations by the Cuban poet Eliseo Diego (Havana, 1920-Mexico City, 1994). This presentation will feature the participation of two Miami actors with long and prestigious careers in theater and television: Mabel Roch and Juan David Ferrer. With this literary recital, the Cuatrogatos Foundation celebrates the centenary of the birth of Eliseo Diego, winner in 1993, in Mexico, of the Juan Rulfo Latin American and Caribbean Literature Prize.

This year the Palabra Viva Weekend poster features an illustration by the prestigious Argentine artist María Wernicke. The graphic design was done in Miami by Jenny Fernández Prieto.

We appreciate the collaboration of our friends at the Artefactus Cultural Project.
