    Living Word Weekend 2020

The Cuatrogatos Foundation presented the fourth edition of its annual event Palabra Viva Weekend via streaming on Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time, USA). The program was supported by ArtesMiami, the prestigious cultural organization presided over by Dr. Aida Levitan, and can be viewed on the Cuatrogatos YouTube channel.

Since its launch in 2016, Palabra Viva Weekend has promoted literature and the arts in Spanish, exploring the relationship between literature and other artistic expressions such as music, theater, dance, and visual arts. On this occasion, the event celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the creation of Cuatrogatos and, as usual, featured two shows: one for children and another for adults.

On Saturday, May 30th, a fun and original combination of supernatural monsters, rock, lullabies, traditional Ibero-American games, poetry, dance, and digital animation titled Una noche de fantasmas y otros divertimentos was presented for children. This "homemade" production featured the participation of two prominent figures in children's music and arts from Colombia: Paula Ríos, singer and director of the children's rock group Tú Rockcito, and María del Sol Peralta, singer, author, and director of the musical group Cantaclaro. The musicians Daniel Caderna and Felipe Aljure, and the dancer Lina Vanegas also participated in this children's show. Poems taken from books by Antonio Orlando Rodríguez and Sergio Andricaín were also read.

On Sunday, May 31st, Palabra Viva Weekend offered the adult audience La eternidad por fin comienza un lunes, a reading of poems and narratives by the Cuban poet Eliseo Diego (Havana, 1920 - Mexico City, 1994). This presentation featured the participation of two Miami actors with a long and prestigious career in theater and television: Mabel Roch and Juan David Ferrer. With this literary recital, the Cuatrogatos Foundation celebrated the centenary of the birth of Eliseo Diego, winner in 1993 in Mexico of the Juan Rulfo Latin American and Caribbean Literature Award.

This year, the poster for Palabra Viva Weekend featured an illustration by the prestigious Argentine artist María Wernicke. The graphic design was done by Jenny Fernández Prieto.

We thank our friends at Artefactus Cultural Project for their collaboration.
