Bienvenida la sombra: Ramón Fernández Larrea reads his poems
As part of the literary reading series organized by the Cuatrogatos Foundation, in collaboration with the Artefactus Cultural Center, a poetic recital titled Bienvenida la sombra with the Cuban writer Ramón Fernández-Larrea will take place on May 10th at 8:30 p.m. The event, aimed at adult audiences, is sponsored by Furtivas Editions and will be held at the Artefactus headquarters (12302 SW 133rd Ct, Miami, FL 33186).
Fernández-Larrea was born in Bayamo, Cuba, in 1958. In addition to being a poet, he is a radio and television scriptwriter. As a poet, he has published El pasado del cielo (National Poetry Prize Julián del Casal 1985), Poemas para ponerse en la cabeza (XX Anniversary Prize of El Caimán Barbudo 1986), El libro de las instrucciones, El libro de los salmos feroces, Terneros que nunca mueren de rodillas (Julio Tovar Prize 1997), Cantar del tigre ciego, Yo no bailo con Juana, and Todos los cielos el cielo (Gastón Baquero Poetry Prize 2014). In his latest book, Terneros que nunca mueren de rodillas, published by Furtivas Editions, he brings together two of his poetry collections: the one that gives the title to the work and Manual de pasión. He has also published the personal anthologies Nunca canté en Broadway and Si yo me llamara Raimundo.
His bibliography also includes titles like Kabiosiles: Los músicos de Cuba featuring portraits of Cuban music glories) and Cuba a la carta (a collection of humor columns about Cuban history).
Currently, Fernández-Larrea writes and is responsible for the musical production and narration of the podcast Memoria de La Habana, which aims to preserve the auditory history of Cuba in the last century.
