Poetry recital The Age of Time by José Abreu Felippe

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., the Cuatrogatos Foundation and Artefactus Cultural Project will continue their cycle of poetry readings featuring prominent figures in Miami literature. This series began in 2023 with the participation of authors Teresa María Rojas and Orlando Rossardi. This time, the poetry recital The Age of Time will be presented, with José Abreu Felippe as the invited writer.

Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1947, José Abreu Felippe has had an outstanding career as a poet, narrator, and playwright. He went into exile from his homeland in 1983 and has since resided in Madrid and Miami. He received the International Poetry Award Gastón Baquero 2000 for El tiempo afuera, the Baco Award 2012 for his entire dramatic work, and the Editorial El Ateje Award 2023 in narrative. He has published poetry collections such as Orestes de noche (1985), Cantos y elegías (1992), De vuelta (2012), El tiempo a la mitad (2015), El tiempo sometido (2016), and Morir por tramos (2022). His prose includes the pentalogy El olvido y la calma. He has also released volumes of short stories like El camino de ayer (2019) and Las moscas verdes (2021), among others. In 2014, he published 121 lecturas, a selection of literary reviews. Abreu Felippe has devoted many years to promoting Hispanic literature and culture in Miami.
