On Saturday, June 10, 2023, as part of the Queer Case event, the Cuatrogatos Foundation and Artefactus Cultural Project will present the reading Three Poets, Three Poetics, featuring renowned Cuban-American authors Lleny Díaz, María Elena Hernández, and Carlos Pintado. With distinct voices and styles, these creators will share a selection of their published and unpublished works with the audience in Miami.

Lleny Díaz (Placetas, Cuba, 1975) is a poet who has released the poetry collections Confesiones al extraño (Miami, 2011), Sobre mi espalda desnuda otro silencio vive (Miami, 2012), Placenta colectiva (Ediciones Torremozas, Madrid, 2016), and Se miran los caballos (Hypermedia, 2018). He was a finalist for the Nuevos Valores de la Poesía Hispana 2012 prize by Ediciones Baquiana and the Centro Cultural Español in Miami. His work has been published in print and online magazines in Cuba, Spain, and the United States. His verses have been included in various anthologies, such as Poetas cubanos en Miami (Ediciones Aldabón, Matanzas, 2014) and Crear en femenino (Editorial Silueta, Miami, 2017).

María Elena Hernández (La Habana, Cuba, 1967) is a poet and narrator. In 1989, she received the David de Poesía Prize from the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba for her book Donde se dice que el mundo es una esfera que dios hace bailar sobre un pingüino ebrio. She is also the author of poetry collections such as El oscuro navegante (Ediciones Matanzas, Matanzas, 1987), Elogio de la sal (Editorial Cuarto Propio, Santiago de Chile, 1996), Electroshock-palabras (Editorial La Bohemia, Argentina, 2001), La rama se parte (Ediciones Torremozas, Madrid, 2013), Yo iba tranquila dentro de una bala (Editorial Verbum, Madrid, 2016), and La noche del erizo (Editorial Casa Vacía, Isla de Richmond, 2018). She has also published the novel Libro de la derrota (Azud Ediciones, Buenos Aires, 2010; Hypermedia, 2015) and the short story collection Tres metros cuadrados de Purgatorio (Hypermedia, 2019). Her poems have been included in anthologies on Cuban poetry, such as Retrato de grupo (Letras Cubanas, La Habana, 1989), Un grupo avanza silencioso (UNAM, Ciudad de México, 1990), Otra Cuba secreta (Editorial Verbum, Madrid, 2011), 80 años de poesía cubana (Duke University Press, North Carolina, 2017), and 13 poetas (Editorial Hypermedia, 2017), among others. She collaborates with Latin American, Spanish, and American literary newspapers and magazines.

Carlos Pintado (Pinar del Río, Cuba, 1974) is a poet and narrator. He graduated in English Language and Literature from the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Pinar del Río. He received the international poetry prize Sant Jordi 2006 in Spain for his work Autorretrato en azul and the Paz de Poesía 2014 Prize awarded by The National Poetry Series for his book Nueve monedas, published by Akashic Books in both English and Spanish. Other poetry titles by him include Habitación a oscuras (Editorial Vitruvio, Madrid, 2007), Los nombres de la noche (Bluebird Editions, Miami, 2008), El unicornio y otros poemas (Ediciones Ruinas Circulares, Buenos Aires, 2011), Cuaderno del falso amor impuro (Tigres de papel, Buenos Aires, 2014), La sed del último que mira (Sudaquia Editores, New York, 2015), Taubenschlag (Editorial Capiro, Santa Clara, Cuba, 2015), and El árbol rojo (Ediciones Furtivas, Miami, 2022). He is also the author of the short story collection La seducción del Minotauro (Islas Canarias, 2000). His poems, stories, and articles have been translated into English, German, Turkish, Portuguese, Italian, and French, and have been included in anthologies such as Mañana hablarán de nosotros (Editorial Dos Bigotes, Madrid, 2015). His poems have appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The American Poetry Review, and World Literature Today, among others.
