Palabra Viva Weekend 2023
On April 29th and 30th, 2023, the Cuatrogatos Foundation will present for the sixth time its annual spring event Palabra Viva Weekend.
This cultural program aims to promote Hispanic literature and art among children, young people, and adults in Miami. It is a space to explore the interrelationship of literature with other artistic expressions such as theater, oral storytelling, music, visual arts, and more.
Like in previous years, the Palabra Viva Weekend 2023 event will feature two activities, one dedicated to the adult audience and another to children.
For the adult audience, on Saturday, April 29th at 8:30 pm, La edad del sábado (The Age of Saturday) will be presented, a recital in which the renowned actress and writer Teresa María Rojas, a living legend of Hispanic theater in the United States, will read a selection of her poetry. Teresa María gathered in her first book, Señal en el agua, her verses written between 1956 and 1968; subsequently, she has published Ecos de la brevedad, La casa de agua, Los días cercanos, among other poetry collections. This literary evening is co-produced by the Cuatrogatos Foundation and the Solo Theater Fest of Artefactus Cultural Project, and will take place at the Black Box Artefactus (12302 SW 133rd Ct, Miami, FL 33186). Admission is free.
For the children's audience, on Sunday, April 30th at 3:00 pm, Había una vez… Cuentos y cantos (Once Upon a Time... Tales and Songs) will be offered. This event will feature the participation of Rachel Pastor, an actress and oral storyteller who will bring to life the magic of stories told in person and games for the little ones, and musicians Yildrys La Luz (singer and pianist) and Lennon Vibes (percussion), who will share a selection of their songs for children. This activity is sponsored by Pikitín Learning Projects and will take place at their headquarters (located at 801 Madrid Street, suite 208, Coral Gables, FL 33134). Admission is free.
This year the poster for the event reproduces the work Secrets of a Blue Hare, by the painter María Sánchez, whom we thank for her support.
