Living Word Weekend 2019

On Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, the Cuatrogatos Foundation will present its annual Living Word Weekend event for the third time. This cultural proposal is carried has, once again, with the support of the City of Coral Gables, and its purpose is to explore the links of literature with other artistic expressions, such as music, theater and visual arts. This year, the poster of the event was created by the graphic designer Jefferson Quintana.

The Living Word Weekend program includes two activities, one aimed at the adult public and one for children:

Saturday May 18, 7:30 p.m.:

The Harp of the Rain, literary-musical performance, with the participation of the outstanding actors and singers Cristina Rebull and Jorge Hernández. In this small format concert, accompanied by guitars and very intimate, the applauded artists will share with the adult audience songs of composers from different periods and nationalities, such as Miguel Matamoros, Michel Legrand, Mike Porcell, Juan Luis Guerra, and Chico Buarque de Hollanda. They will also read poems by great authors of Cuban literature, such as Dulce Marí­a Loynaz, Eliseo Diego, Virgilio Piñera, Gastón Baquero, Mirta Aguirre, and Félix Pita Rodrí­guez.

Saturday, May 19, 11:00 a.m.:

In the Kitchenland, play for children written by Antonio Orlando Rodrí­guez and Sergio Andricaí­n, and played by the actors Leonardo Van Schermbeek and Saúl Mauricio Mendoza. The masks that are used in this show were created by the prestigious visual artist Carlos Estévez. At the end of the show, Estévez will give a mask creation workshop for children and their families.
